"Be Right Back"
In "Be Right Back", a widowed woman decides to abuse technology and move from talking to a computer generated version of her husband to purchasing a cyborg version of her husband. Martha, the widowed woman, made this decision because she was trying to control her grief. However, she may have only intensified it instead of making it better. Towards the end of the episode, Martha comes to the conclusion that this cyborg version of her husband is not the same as her real husband, and she commands the cyborg to jump off of a cliff. At this moment, Martha realizes that the cyborg is not really human. Humans have distinct characteristics and abilities. Her husband, Asher, was able to be himself by himself. He didn't take in information from social media to become the person he was, but the cyborg wasn't able to just be Asher. It had to think about exactly what the real Asher would have done, and even then, it wasn't always sure. Martha knew that the cyborg wasn't really a person. It was reflective of parts of a person. She really wanted Asher back, and all the cyborg did was remind her of pieces of him. She made changes to the house in order to not be reminded of the pieces of him, so having the cyborg around was like taking two steps backwards away from the strides she was really trying to make. The fact that the cyborg was not completely Asher made Martha miss her husband even more, and her initial attempt failed.

good overview of the episode. You say that her initial attempt failed. Thinking back specifically about the final scene, do you think that any of her attempts to move on helped?
