Reflection to "Waldo"

The episode from black mirror called "Waldo" was inspiring and frightening. This episode has a deeper meaning other than just the one related to the election. It tells us to be true to oneself because that's who people truly want to see. Waldo got a lot of attention because he was not holding his words back like all the politicians were doing. Waldo received a bigger following in votes thanks his explosion of emotions and truth. The truth has a way of coming to the surface with/without outside help. Fortunately, It had help from an egotistical, spastic, and animated bear named Waldo. True emotions are variables that can affect any big decisions in the world. Anger has its uses, which Waldo uses when it tear away the blinders that Gwendolyn had up to fool the voters. Jamie’s anger and rage was directed towards Gwen because of his love for her being unrequited. It reflects on what Donald Trump/Waldo could be like but it also shows us that if we judge some body how they look then we will be blind to the real truth.
This is what truly frightens me, is that people can be swayed by someone's word, appearance and fabricated ideas.  The ugly truth is that we judge people/politicians by their appearance, words, and artificial ideas instead of by their past actions. During the end credits it skipped 30 years to where Waldo was running the country as a dictatorship. If people had judged Waldo for his actions and not for his words, then their might not have been under a dictatorship. Words can be fabricated to appeal to anyone listening. We all know that humans can and will lie if it benefits their best interest. People are just like Gwendolyn because they hide things from people to further their own selfish goals. At least Waldo (when voiced by Jamie) was telling the truth about himself without hiding things from everyone around him. He didn't try to deceive anyone watching him. He told the world the truth even if it could harm his campaign. Mr. Monroe wanted to hurt Waldo's chances to win by throw Waldo under the bus by saying he is not real. The reality of Waldo was never truly in question to everyone except Mr. Monroe which is why he kept repeating that he wasn't real. This also showed how scared Mr. Monroe was of Waldo.

  1. What is the 'real truth'? Also, aren't worlds also actions?
