The Waldo Moment

The Waldo episode relates to this year's election on many levels. Waldo is most similar to Trump in that people didn't take him serious as far as his views. Waldo wasn't taken as serious because he was a cartoon controlled  by a person who had no qualifications of a politician. Same goes for Donald Trump, only he wasn't a cartoon character. Trump has gained a lot of publicity over the course of the election simply because he is a mogul but has never had a position in government. Trump would makes news headlines about something that happened during the debates before Hillary would even be recognized. He was called rude, obnoxious, stupid, and heartless. Wado wasn't expecting to get the reaction that he got from people because his platform was only to make jokes about politicians. I think the reactions of people on the show and the election relate as well because once Waldo and Trump started to gain popularity more and more, they started to regret taking them as a joke and wished they went about it differently in my opinion. Since I couldn't vote, I didn't really pay much attention to the election. But I still thought of Trump as a joke because he would only make fun of or disrespect Hillary, that's all I would hear or see on social media. While I was watching the Waldo episode, in a sense, I was on Waldo's side because of some of the things he would say about some of the politicians. But election wise, I do not favor Trump and the things that he says. Trump is very degrading to women and foreigners. But, now that he is president-elect, there's basically nothing else we can do but give him a chance and pray for the best.
